LAST POST!!! =D

Posted on June 3rd, 2008 in Uncategorized by three9

This is our last post and we are deciding what to do after we leave. I think mr mayo Should erase everything on my site and give it to an eighth grader coming next year! or Keep what I wrote and still give it to an eighth grader. I believe that next year, we should have a fresh start rather then be tied down by all the work from this year.

Well This IS our last post so I’m going to end by saying goodbye. To You, to you and to MIDDLE SCHOOL!!

To wrap this year up, I would say we had to do a LOT of interesting writing that we ALL put thought into and I hope after we leave people will still be looking at our book and still be listening to our songs that we created! Overall I know that everyone is soooooo gonna miss the amazing spectacular class of 12′

Book Connections

Fredrick Douglas’s book relates to the “child labor in Kyrgyz coal mines” because both stories are about hard labor and families struggling. They both are also about children attempting dangerous activities. For example, the children at the Kyrgyz mines are around dangerous tools like a sledge hammer and other dangerous tolls used in mining. On the plantation the African Americans the children have to pick the needle-like buds from the cotton. They also face the risk of many diseases from poisonous spiders and bugs when working in the corn fields. As you may have noticed, both stories are very alike and one difference is Fredrick Douglas’s story was over 200 years ago but child labor is now, in the present.

DARFUR!!

Imagine this; you and your family are sitting together in your den, when you hear a sound…. POP! You all jump and hastily look out of your window, come to find out, one of your neighbors has been shot. Unfortunately, they don’t stop with just your neighbor, but men, women, teachers, friends, sisters, brothers, everyone. Suddenly, your world has become a dystopia and is crashing all around you, where nothing is safe anymore. In the eyes of an innocent child, their country, their home is a death valley, an open abyss, and home will never be the same again.

This may seem like a scary introduction, but in
Darfur, millions of lives are taken every single day. Lives are taken from men, women, and even children younger then the age of two. Families are broken apart and strangers are forced to live together and share supplies (which are scarce) just for their very survival.

Children of all ages have to run up to three thousand meters to reach a water well which may yield little or no results, and risk there lives getting food, blankets, and supplies. Women face the risk of being raped and having their children and families taken from them. Children could get raped, murdered, kidnapped or have their parents and siblings taken away from them. Men are tortured for information on the whereabouts of their families. One man was hung upside down and had chili powder sprinkled in his eyes when asked about where the Darfurians were hiding. The Janjaweed slither along the coasts of Chad and the once populated
Darfur waiting for a innocent passerby to prey on. Anyone passing by is eligible for the Janjaweed’s next victim.

There is hope. Schools nationwide are doing various things to help Darfur. For example Darfur call in, Darfur wiki, and many other things to help save the innocent people in
Darfur!

If I visited a refugee camp in Chad

If I got the chance to sit down with a kid my age in Chad, I would tell them that Maryland is doing whatever we can to help save the people in darfur and I would tell them that there is help in raising awareness. I would also tell them that its all going to be okay.

Darfur, a region in
West Sudan, has been recently under attack and they need our help. A group of bandits by the name of John Juid has been terrorizing the western regions of
Sudan. They shoot from above they shoot from yards away taking the lives of men, women, and worst of all innocent little children. The USA is doing absolutely nothing to help save Darfur the last issued report was August 2004 it is now 2008.However, more and more people are finding out about
Darfur to see what they can do to help. In the past few months, the people of
Darfur have been sending numerous complaints to the Sudani Government and they keep ignoring them. So please help us save
Darfur from this crisis!

If you are not aware, Darfur, a region in
Sudan, is being attacked by Janjaweed which is a group of criminals put together by the Sudanese government. Women and children face the risk of rape and abused or even killed everyday, when they forage for water some five thousand or so miles away from their camps, Men especially face being killed or tortured for information about whereabouts of their family and friends. I am not a scientist but I do know that water is essential for human life, and if water is scarce so is your energy, and if your having to run from Janjaweed, this can be a very scary thing.        The Darfurians send letters to their government asking them to help but they ignore every single one of their complaints because they sent the Janjaweed to
Darfur! This dispute started with Darfur selling the oil to
China and not giving any to the government. The Sudani government now is torturing
Darfur for this in the most inhumane way.. war.

Please help us help us in our fight to save
Darfur.

MS writing….

My favorite blog post from this year was the darfur awareness blog because I got to tell the world about what were doing in class to help save Darfur !

My opinion on using blogs is fun it’s kind of a hassle to have to keep up with them but it’s better than writing.

From the beggining to the end it has definitly gotten better but like I said it’s a little tough keeping up with it :)

One thing I do well would probably be writing reports on something.
I definitly need to work on sentence fluency

Penguins recently came to a san fransico zoo and totally riled it up. The penguins have been swimming nonstop since the ohio penguins arrived. They go around and around the swimming pool and the zookeepers have to make an effort to feed them. Before the other birds came the san fransico peguins were the lazyiest peguins ever!
